On Friday 16 December from 5.00 pm we would like to invite you to the Czech Centre Prague on meeting with Czech personality who is living in Canada – with Lenka Storzer. The discussion is moderated by Martina Fialková, co-author of the of the film cycle Czech roots. IN CZECH ONLY.
The guest of the discussion at the Czech Center will be one protagonist of the film cycle Czech roots.
At home, they called her Alenka. When she and her husband Eda emigrated in Canada in 1968, her name is shortened. Lenka Storzer is a significant personality of the Czech community in British Columbia. Her company Czech-Books, an online bookstore, is known to the Czech people from Canada, the USA but also from other countries.
In Victoria, where she lives, she organizes for the local Czech community many activities for example a concert of Václav Neckář. Her attitude toward her native land and its culture would probably be called "realistic patriotism". For all this and especially for everlasting energy to do something meaningful, she became a candidate for the Czech honorary viceconsul in Victoria. Furthermore, she is a successful mother of two sons and a loving modern grandmother – of course wearing jeans and sneakers and often driving her Jaguar. In the summer of 2015 she become one of the protagonist of the film document Czech roots, which was filmed with several other significant countrymen in Vancouver and Victoria.
Behind the camera was Tomáš Kubák, who then edited two-part film, devoted to nine exceptional personalities and their families. The document was produced by the association Czech roots and had its premiere in Prague with attendance of Canadian Ambassador Otto Jelinek in June. Premieres at locations of filming, in Vancouver and Victoria, were held in September. Now, with one protagonists Mrs. Lenka Storzer, we can meet face to face in Prague in the Czech Centre on 16 November from 5.00 pm to 7.00 pm. The next opportunity to meet her will be on 19 November in Kyjov where she will be a host on the Moravian premiere of this document.
