HOMELESSNESS WITHOUT CENSORSHIP

The exhibition named "Homelessness Without Censorship", with subtitle "25 years taking homeless people for who they are," will be on display in the Gallery of the Czech Centre Prague from December 2 to 30, 2016.

 

HOMELESSNESS WITHOUT CENSORSHIP: 25 YEARS TAKING HOMELESS PEOPLE FOR WHO THEY ARE

The exhibition features photographs from surroundings of homeless’ life and from their own observations in the form of messages. Jan Přerovský photographed homeless people who use the services of NADĚJE. Martin Pokora created a collection of photographs from public places where homeless survive. Discover the atmosphere of losing the roof over your head and attach your message too.

NADĚJE is a Czech non-profit organization. It provides assistance to elderly people, homeless, handicapped and endangered children and youth. It was founded in 1990 and today operates in 23 cities in the Czech Republic. Prague is one of the largest providers of social services for homeless people. (www.nadeje.cz)

Jan Přerovský puts emphasis on detail in his photography, which characterizes total sense. He focuses on timelessness and on a human being in the setting using untypical manner. In this way, he created stories of center NADĚJE  in Prague. (Www.janprerovsky.com)

Martin Pokora focuses on people and tries to catch the atmosphere and mood in his photographs. A series of images of homeless people was created in the same manner. During this project he cooperated closely with field workers of the centre NADĚJE. The motivation for taking photographs is effort to leave something after us. (www.martinpokora.cz)
