LÍPA...TRANSMISSION OF MOVEMENT (1)
Czech Centre Prague is proud to present the first part of TRANSMISSION OF MOVEMENT, a long-term project of contemporary Czech artist Libor Lípa.
TRANSMISSION OF MOVEMENT (1) is composed of large format figurative paintings, distinguished by their reduced and ambiguous forms. The main body of his work is a series of charcoal drawings resembling documentary photography and snapshots.
The artist has characterized the exhibition by these words: “It is a reflection concerning the people throughout history who have had the ability to convince others to carry out their dangerous visions and dreams.”
Lípa doesn’t react adversely to or feel the need to criticize any human acts or behavior, no matter how extreme. He considers them as natural, regardless their danger for the society.
Libor Lípa (1963) was born in Valtice. He studied painting at the Industrial Arts High School in Brno with professors Marie Filippovová and Jiří Coufal. Until 2004 he predominantly resided in Mikulov where he initiated prestigious Mikulov Art Symposium and contemporary art collection located at the Mikulov castle. He is the founding member of the art groups Přecitlivělí (Oversensitive) and A6 as well as U nás se svítí (Our Place is Alight) music band. Libor Lípa currently lives in Prague.
